Norway has granted 1,857 asylum seekers a classified status due to foreign policy reasons and security since 2004. The move makes it impossible for anyone not directly linked with the cases to find out information on the people involved. This includes the police, immigration authorities, criminal police (Kripos), tax officials, and the Ministry of Justice.
